The outer shell of the 4.2-metre diameter, semi-circular bow section was formed in 2mm-thick aluminium using our unique power hammer, the hammered sections were then smoothed on the wheeling machine. The shell was mounted to an aluminium T-section framework by 1,400 rivets, before final hand finishing using a flipper and dolly.
